The lyrics in this song sounded so masterful to me.
All the allusions to the American Dream driven by our Free Will and Drive intermingle with our search for Liberty and Happiness leading most on the wide path that ultimately searches for money.
Having had been raised a Catholic girl, all the allusions to the American Dream driven by our Free Will and Drive intermingle, in my life experience, with our search for Liberty and Happiness as individuals constantly faced with the decision to confront pain and suffering righteously (good) by eluding the hedonistic evils of individuals searching for their own pleasures in life (evil)…turning into parasites always hungry for more (money).
Over time a lack of righeous decisions can transform the what was once a Pure Goal of doing what you love and are good at to accomplish the American Dream into the need to do what those with the money tell you, because you are no longer betrothed to the spirit of love from within you which springs limitless energy and possibility in your Freedom (albeit, perhaps, one of poverty), but are distracted by the illusion that you need LOTS of money from "those in charge" of your fame and can then be controlled and enslaved by them.
Is Life on Earth Heaven or Hell to you?
In our waking consciousness, we live here as biological beings trapped on Earth. In every human life, it is a choose your own adventure in each decision you make that day. Perhaps it is only our last moments on Earth when we die that we can have a true understanding of our opinion of where we ended up.
Was our life a living hell, only to die there?
Or was our life a living hell, but we discerned which opportunities to take advantage of along the way to have discovered the Gates of Heaven on Earth.
